Commemorate National Bookday, Fiersa Besari Talks about His Most Favorit Book
Every May 17th Indonesian commemorate National Bookday. Many Indonesian, especially those who are into literature has their own way to celebrate this day such as buy alot of books since the bookstore give extra sale for National Bookday or post their most favorite book in social media with Hashtag #HariBukuNasional.
Not only readers or booklovers, some writter also celebrate this National Bookday. Fiersa Besari, Indonesian famous singer whose also active in literature post his most favorite book in his Instagram account.
Through an Instagram story, Fiersa share his 10 most favorite books from his own collection. All of those books are written by Indonesian writter. Here is the list of Fiersa's Favorite Books:
1. Merasa Pintar, Bodoh Saja Tak Punya: kisah sufi dari Madura- Rusdi Mathari
This book is short story antology talks about Sufi from Madura named Cak Dlahom and his point of view toward sensitive issues, it was originally a two-year series of writing on the Mojok.co website and become popular read by more than million people.
2. 24 Jam Bersama Gaspar Sebuah Cerita Detektif-Sabda Armandio
Although it is written "Detective Story" in the cover of this book, but it is not such a story like Sherlock Holmes or Conan. This books talks about social problem, paedohpilia and young marriage.
3. Amba-Laksmi Pamuntjak
A historical romance story of Amba,un-married girl whom her lover and father of her baby, named Bisma, was gone at the G30S tragedy.
4. Cantik Itu Luka-Eka Kurniawan
Another historical story, this book talks about Indo beauty prostitue and her daughter. Feminism issue, tragedy, satire, love-life, and humor can be found in this book.
5. Hidup Sederhana-Desi Anwar
Hidup Sederhana is self motivation books that potray a simple problem of our life which people usually never think about.
6. Menjadi Indonesia surat dari dan untuk pemimpin
Surat dari dan untuk pemimpin means A letter from and for the leaders. In this books there are letters written by some inspiring figure such as Mira Lesmana, Butet Manurung, and etc for the readers especially young generation of Indonesia that will be Leaders in the future.
7. Akar-Dee Lestari
Akar is second book of Supernova series by Dee Lestari. It talks about Bodhi, an ex-monk who became a backpacker and went to Thailand and became a tattoo artists.
8. Pulang- Laila S Chudori
This book talks about Indonesian exiles who lived in France after 1956 for fear of being arrested by the government.
9. Seteru Satu Guru-Haris Priyatna
Another historical story, this book talks about a friendship of three Indonesia famous figure: Soekarno, Musso, and Kartosoewirjo. They all areTjokroaminoto students, and each has strong belief of different idealism.
10. Anak Semua Bangsa-Pramoedya Ananta Toer
This is the last book that Fiersa mention, and he said that this one is the most special. This book is sequel of Bumi Manusia, a trilogy written by Pramoedya Ananta. It talks about Minke, an Indonesian journalist whose trying to understand himself after his wife a Netherland girl had to be forced back to the Netherlands. Fiersa Besari added that he is really fall in love with this book till he write a song isnpired by Anak Semua Bangsa.
