Theater activist all around the world commemorates World Theater Day every March 27. So do, Theater activist in Semarang. This year, during the New Normal of pandemic, the Semarang Theater Forum (FOTKAS), Semarang Serawung Theater(SERAT SEMAR), the Semarang Arts Council (DEKASE) celebrate the World Theater Day by guiding Youth Generation of Tambakrejo Fishermen Village.
Depart from from the theme "Meruah Ruang Tenggelam" this event held in Tambakrejo Village, Tanjungmas, North Semarang Distric, Semarang city, Central Java on Friday 26-Sunday 28 March 2021.
Dozens of theater and art activists from various theater communities in Semarang took part in this event. Includes college student and native of the Fishermen Village, they performed many theatrical performance: Traditional Dance, Dramatical Reading, Story Telling, Wayang, Drama, Theatre, Musical Poetry, etc.
In a small stage, this event can be carried out smoothly eventhough it was delayed due to the rain on the second day, Saturday, March 27, 2021.
Not only theatrical performances, Semarang Theater Activisits organizes a discussion about arts and environment with the speakers Masnuah a coastal environmental activist and Wahyu Babae Laksono a cultural motivator. Those theme are chosen because of the awereness of Semarang Theater Activisits about the drowning process of theatre actors because of pandemic as how the conditions on the north district of Semarang City experience the same thing drowning process anually.
"We both theater actors and as whole our domicile on the city of Semarang did not expect that Covid-19. This pandemic ia trying to drown us. Not to mention, when we saw the condition of northen district of Semarang has experienced the same thing, land subsidence because of drowning process," explained the Chief Executive of this event by his speech in Firday, March 26.
"We hope it can be held like this again." Some native of Tambakrejo Fishermen Village explained they are excitedly happy with this celebration of World Theater Day because people finally find out the condition of their village and they can learn new thing about theater.
